PHOENIX, April 25, 2007 – ACSS, an L-3 Communications & Thales Company, announced today that Air Berlin has selected the TCAS 3000 for installation on its order of 85 Boeing 737NG aircraft. TCAS 3000 is ACSS’s next generation traffic alert and collision avoidance system, giving operators the ability to easily upgrade the unit to include other safety avionics, such as automatic dependent surveillance-broadcast (ADS-B). Air Berlin also selected the XS-950 Air Transport Data Link Transponder from ACSS for this installation.

ACSS announced last year that Air Berlin’s order of 60 Airbus A320s will feature T2CAS, ACSS’s combined TCAS and terrain awareness warning system (TAWS).

“Air Berlin has become one of our most vibrant European customers,” said ACSS President Kris Ganase. “They are clearly looking to the future with our most advanced safety product because its ability to bring a broad range of safety and situational awareness benefits to their fleet.”

The TCAS 3000 is hosted in ACSS’s revolutionary Surveillance Processor that can host a variety of safety avionics systems, including ACSS’s new ADS-B product, SafeRoute, which provides enhanced situational awareness to avoid runway incursions during taxi and improved efficiency through its Merging & Spacing function. Its unique hardware design enables aircraft operators to upgrade their suite of safety avionic systems by simply adding software. The Surveillance Processor is available in a four- or six-MCU form factor.
